by Diarmuid Pepper, https://www.thejournal.ie/author/diarmuid-pepper/ · TheJournal.ieBARRY KEOGHAN AND former White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci are among the guests on The Pat Kenny Show’s weekend debut.
Last year, it was announced that Kenny’s Newstalk show would be moving from weekdays to weekends.
Kenny signed off from his weekday show on 30 January and his new weekend time slot will debut tomorrow.
It will air on Saturdays and Sundays from 10am to 12pm.
Newstalk said the weekend shows will see Kenny in conversation with “some of the top names in politics, sport, film, food, and science”.
Anthony Scaramucci, former White House communications director during Trump’s first term, will be among the guests.
The high-profile New York financier infamously held the role for a mere 10 days.
Scaramucci is the host of The Rest is Politics US podcast, and also appears often as a guest on The Rest is Politics, which is hosted by Rory Stewart and Alastair Campbell.
He will be on Newstalk to discuss “US and global politics, the current economic climate and why Ireland is on his agenda this week”.

Oscar-nominated actor Barry Keoghan will also appear to reflect on his career to date, his latest film role alongside Cillian Murphy in ‘Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man’, and what’s next for him in Hollywood and beyond.
Former Ireland rugby international Devin Toner will also be on the air to share his insights on the Six Nations and offer his analysis on Ireland’s chances in the championship, following their clash with Wales in the Aviva Stadium this evening.
Chef Gareth Mullins meanwhile will share “food inspiration, kitchen tips and recipes with listeners”.
There will be conversation and live music from Paul Harrington.
Harrington, alongside Charlie McGettigan, won the Eurovision Song Contest for Ireland in 1994 with Rock ‘n’ Roll Kids.
Speaking ahead of the weekend shows, Kenny remarked that “it’s great to be back on air after a short break”.
Asked about what to expect from his weekend slot, Kenny said: “Well, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it!”
“You’ll be hearing the breaking news, with insightful analysis to help us make sense of it all,” said Kenny.
He added: “Given it’s the weekend, we’ll aim to leaven the mix with the good food, sweet music, and the latest from the worlds of science and sport.”
