Outward 2 early access release date has been set for July 7th
by Aran Suddi · tsaNine Dot Studios has announced that it will be releasing Outward 2 into early access on July 7th, and has released a new trailer which shows the game running on lower settings. Ahead of the early access release on July 7th, Nine Dot Studios has also announced that there will be a closed beta for Outward 2 taking from May 26th.
Guillaume Boucher-Vidal, CEO and Creative Director at Nine Dots Studio, said, “Outward 2 is a natural successor to Outward and we want to overdeliver on everything that worked right. To give huge payoffs to exploration, and ask players to prepare and think about how they would actually react in the face of danger. We identified four key areas in which we knew we could, should, and must make Outward 2 better: having better character creation and progression, being better at telling a story, creating a better world that feels more alive and full, and finally, better combat.”
Outward 2 Preview – Doubling down on the Outward concept
A few months ago, I went hands on with Outward 2 and said, “Outward 2 is a game that will appeal to those that want an RPG with survival elements, where no quest log tells you what to do, no markers to pinpoint exactly where you are, and where you deal with cold, heat, hunger, and thirst as well as the dangers around you. It is a tough experience but Outward 2 comes across as a game that will reward those who persevere. If it is successful it could also see more studios benefit as Nine Dots expands into publishing, allowing for a more varied game industry at a time when it is needed.”
