Back in October, Paper Cult announced it was delaying the release of its hack and slash roguelike Tears of Metal to Q1 2026. While that target hasn’t quite been hit, Paper Cult has now set the early access release date for Tears of Metal and it will be released on July 22nd. However, the demo will be taken down before that and will only be available up until July 6th.

Paper Cult has also revealed what players should expect when Tears of Metal launches into early access.

  • The full progression loop from beginning to end
  • Three Acts, each with unique enemies, Elites, and Bosses
  • Three playable Heroes
  • Village upgrades, Emblems, Equipment, Companions, and more

As early access progresses Paper Cult will be adding more playable heroes, a new Emblem Family, new companions, new equipment and charms, more village content, improvements to the gameplay, performance and balance updates, and quality of life additions based on the feedback from the community.

Tears of Metal is a hack and slash co-op roguelike set in the Scottish Highlands. Hordes of enemies have invaded your home island, so it is up to you and your battalion of Scottish warriors to cleave through this vast number of soldiers to take back the island, and discover more about the Dragon Stone Meteor which caused the invasion to begin with.
