Something for the Weekend – 30/05/26

It feels strange, for some reason, but it’s Summer Games Fest next week, which promises to be a bonanza of game announcements, updates and trailers. Yet it feels to me like the build up is just a little subdued this time around. I know the streams are coming, but I feel like we’re missing that big early announcement to really whet our appetites – Modern Warfare 4 doesn’t really count, because COD does this every year – and this past couple weeks of actual big game releases has me focussed more on the here and now than on what’s coming next.

There are worse problems to have, so let’s just crack on and get to the news!

In the News This Week

It’s a big new effort from Activision to revive COD with Modern Warfare 4, it seems.

Games in Review & Featured Articles

A smaller selection of reviews this week, with a standout metatextual RPG and (while still unscored) a fantastic spy action thriller!

Beyond the reviews, Jason revisited Tales of Arise on Nintendo Switch 2, and Dom returned to Darksiders once again with the PS5 upgrade.

Dom also previewed a culinary vulpine adventure with Foxy Dumplings, while I got an early hands on with F1 25: 2026 Season Pack, to see how this DLC expansion is adapting the latest regulations.

Finishing up for the week, What We Played featured Lego Batman, Mina the Hollower and 007 First Light

No Man’s Sky – The Swarm update plunges the galaxy into war for a new community event

An Edge of Memories demo is coming to Steam in mid-June

Marathon leans in on the Night Marsh horror vibes for Season 2 trailer

That’s the round up for this week. Hope you have a great weekend and we’ll see you back here on Monday!
