‘Chhaava’: Makers of Vicky Kaushal starrer locks new release date; avoids clash with ‘Pushpa 2’

Starring Vicky Kaushal as Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the historical drama is directed by Laxman Utekar

Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films’ highly anticipated Chhaava has got a new release date. The film was earlier scheduled to release on December 06, 2024, setting up a potential box office clash with Pushpa 2.: The Rule. The Allu Arjun starrer is set to release on December 05, 2024.

With a fresh announcement, the makers of Chhaava have averted a clash with Pushpa 2, the sequel to the 2021 pan-Indian blockbuster. Chhaava will now release on February 14, 2025.

Starring Vicky Kaushal as Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the historical drama is directed by Laxman Utekar. “The release date holds special significance since it coincides with Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti on February 19, 2025,” the makers said in a statement.

In the film, Rashmika Mandanna stars as Chhatrapati Maharani Yesubai, the wife of Sambhaji, and Akshaye Khanna plays the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb. A R Rahman has composed the music for Chhaava while Rishi Virmani has written the magnum opus.
