Bahuroopi street performances begin in Mysuru
by The Hindu Bureau · The HinduTheatre persons present street play performances over the next few days in Mysuru and its surrounding areas as part of Bahuroopi National Theatre Festival organised by Rangayana here. The street play performance was inaugurated here on Saturday by MCC Commissioner Ashaad-Ur-Rahman Shariff.
Rangayana director Satish Tiptur, Joint Director of Kannada and Culture V.N. Mallikarjunaswamy, Rangayana deputy director M.D. Sudarshan and others were present.
Street play performers were also present during the inaugural event at Chikka Gadiyara Circle near Devaraja Market.
The street play performances were held at Chikka Gadiyara, Church Circle and Kesare on Saturday. The performances will be held at Srirampura, Vivekananda Nagar and Andolana Circle on January 12; Halli Bogadi, Hinkal, and Hootagalli on January 13; Metagalli, Surya Bakery, and Kumbarakoppal on January 13; Nanju Malige, Ashokapuram, and Chamundipuram on January 13.
The street plays will build momentum for the national theatre festival that will begin at Rangayana on January 14.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will inaugurate the Bahuroopi Theatre Festival on January 14 at Vanaranga at 5 p.m. Actor Atul Kulkarni will inaugurate Rangotsava. Minister in charge of Mysuru district H.C. Mahadevappa will inaugurate the book and handicrafts expo, while Minister for Kannada and Culture Shivaraj Tangadagi will release souvenirs and Mysuru MP Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar will inaugurate the painting expo.
