Applications for Chinnara Mela 2025 sold out quickly
by The Hindu Bureau · The HinduChinnara Mela, the annual summer camp organised by the State-run theatre repertory Rangayana, elicited a good response with the applications sold out within minutes on Sunday.
A large number of people queued up outside Rangayana on Kalamandira campus in the city from the early hours of Sunday to ensure they get an application form for the annual Chinnara Mela 2025, scheduled to be held from April 14 to May 10.
A total of 250 applications, each priced at ₹100, were distributed from 10 a.m. on Sunday on a first-come-first-served basis to the parents who had queued up outside Rangayana.
The eagerness with which parents are looking forward to ensuring their children’s admission to the Chinnara Mela can be gauged from the response to the applications, said officials. “There were around 200 people standing in the queue at 7.30 a.m. Later, a few more joined,” said Rangayana Director Satish Tipatur, while adding that most of the people managed to receive the applications.
Mr. Tipatur said the Chinnara Mela 2025 will engage children in various activities pertaining to theatre while exploring their artistic talents and skills.
Meanwhile, a statement from the Deputy Director of Rangayana stated that the Chinnara Mela 2025 will be held daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. from April 14 to May 10, and children aged between 7 and 15 as of March 31, 2025, are eligible to participate.
The filled-out application forms should be submitted by 5 p.m. on April 9 with the required documents. A birth certificate copy of the child should mandatorily accompany the application.
A fee of ₹3,500 a child, payable via Demand Draft in favour of Deputy Director, Rangayana, Mysuru, should be submitted along with the application.
The other instructions included that parents should ensure daily lunch and sufficient drinking water for the child, while pointing out that mobile phones are prohibited for the children during the camp.
