Vibing with hiphop Tamizha Aadhi in Coimbatore

Coimbatore’s own Hip Hop Tamizha Adhi returned with an electrifying performance at CODISSIA grounds

Hip Hop Tamizha stormed his hometown last weekend with an electrifying performance at CODISSIA Grounds. The concert drew not just music lovers, but anyone looking for a new experience. Having already made waves in venues abroad earlier this year, Coimbatore’s own Hip Hop Adhi returned with a dream: to perform at his hometown, a cherished venue, and reconnect with his roots.

A fine dust swirled in the air, illuminated by dazzling lights, ‘Woo!’ and ‘Yeah!’ roared over 20,000 fans at the arena, charging the atmosphere with excitement. The open ground transformed into a pulsating sea of colour and sound.

As the calm blue sky settled and the stage blazed red and fiery, the dragon of the night took the stage. With the opening notes of ‘Takkaru Takkaru’ cutting through the gloom, the giant screens displayed the line ‘The Hip Hop Tamizha Movement’ adding to the crowd’s excitement. Amidst the electrifying vibe, the crowd cheered their local boy with chants of, ‘Ennada Periya K-Pop, Hip-Hop Theriyuma?’ amplifying the night’s spirit.

As the concert featured vibrant tracks like ‘Takkunu Takkunu’ and ‘Kadhal Cricketu’, the crowd swayed to energetic beats. Melodies such as ‘Kadhal Oru Aagayam,’ ‘Kannala Kannala,’ and ‘Sakkarakatti’ and fast numbers including ‘Hi Sonna Pothum’ and ‘Pakkam Vanthu’ kept up the tempo of the evening.

She says, “The backdrop screen with visuals of smoky bubbles floating around created an all-new vibe of being in love.”

As the night wore on, break up songs and kuthu beats took over. Aadhi clad in a lungi sang ‘Kadhalikadhey Manasey’ and ‘Enna nadanthalum’ and the crowd danced with fervour.

“In the jam-packed fan pits, we danced with strangers, hands draped over shoulders, and grooved to tracks like ‘Enaku Breakup,’ the experience became even more unforgettable,” says Surya Prakash V.

The concert also highlighted the significance of traditional arts where 30 local artists showcased parai aattam.

Hits all the way

The dragon resumed his performance, delivering chart-topping hits like ‘Chennai City Gangsta’ and ‘Kerala Song’ and independent tracks, including the acclaimed ‘Iraiva’.

As the concert drew to a close, he waved to the fans from a tuk tuk decked with sparklers.The energy surged to a fever pitch with high-octane tracks like ‘Meesaya Murukku’ and ‘Kovai Anthem’. Moments after the final song, he began ‘Vadi Pulla Vadi’ that drew the fans back to the arena. The track became the crowd’s favourite and turned the evening into an unforgettable, spontaneous encore.

The concert Return of the Dragon: World Tour was jointly presented by Torque entertainment and Raj melodies and in association with The Hindu.
