Oasis fans mixed after live performance of Acquiesce released

by · Manchester Evening News

Oasis' fans share mixed reactions on the live performance of "Acquiesce" released today, that features on the "Help(2)" album in aid of War Child.

Captured at one of their reunion tour stops at Wembley Stadium last summer, "Acquiesce (Live from Wembley Stadium, 28 September ‘25)" is an exclusive 7” single enclosed within the gatefold of the vinyl edition of "Help(2)", as well as a hidden track on the double CD version.

Many fans took to the online forum, Reddit, within hours of the release to share their views, with opinions ranging from pure excitement to objective critiques. Some were "amazed at how good it sounds", with one calling it "BIBLICAL" and another saying, "this made me tear up. Oh to be back in that moment".

The excitement among fans across the whole thread was evident with some sharing how listening made them relive seeing them on tour and brought them "straight back".

One fan said: "Listening to it, I really miss them. Can't wait for the live album and documentary and for a NEW TOUR for crying out loud. But honestly, this was such a perfect show and setlist. Opening with Hello & Acquiesce back to back gave me GOOSEBUMPS."

"Wow! This made me realise how good Oasis actually sounded in 2025. Noels voice was amazing as well, and the drummers choice of the snare sound helped shape the "its good to be back" tone," another shared.

While many expressed their love for the release, some fans weren't shy to share their critiques and questioned the use of auto-tune in the piece.

One fan said: "Amazed no one is bothered by the auto tune on Noel's voice for each recording they've put out. It's on Liam's voice too, but it's sooooo OTT on Noel's - sounds so synthetic - you can hear the warble. Shame as the rest sounds superb."

"Liam's voice was spot on, I almost wonder if he used correction live," another person shared on Reddit.

The conversation links to a broader fan debate over the use of auto-tune in live recordings from Oasis' 2025 tour and other releases. Discussions often weighed the need for a polished sound versus live authenticity.

Many fans have also debated the impact of line-up changes, with the bands new drummer Joey Waronker, whose style has subtly changed the live sound compared with the band's classic era.

The exclusive track marks the first physical release of a live recording from the 2025 comeback , with the recording taken from the final night of their seven-show residency at Wembley.

The album will raise money and awareness for children whose lives have been affected by war and conflict, with Oasis’ contribution to the collaborative charity album comes nearly thirty years after their involvement in the original ‘Help’ project, which opened with Oasis’ "Fade Away".
