A heartbroken mother has described the moment she heard a knock at the door before being told the body of her 'clever and talented' daughter had been found in a field.

Charlotte Elizabeth Lloyd was found in a field near Stoney Lane/Hemmingsway in Rainhill, near St Helens. The 28-year-old left Whiston Hospital in the early hours of Sunday, October 20, before the tragic discovery at around 8.35am.

Almost a week on from the death, her mum, Davinia Lloyd, has paid tribute to her daughter. She said: "She was so clever and talented artistically, whether that was musically, painting, everything she turned her hand to.

"She was talented at a multitude of things. She spent a lot of years in the mental health system and one person even said how she helped save her life. That's the type of person she was."

Charlotte was born in Southport and moved to Wales before settling in Fazakerley for the last eight years, reports the Liverpool Echo. But when Davinia, 46, and her partner of 17 years, Mark, were woken up in the early hours of Sunday they were completely blindsided.

Davinia, from Walton, said: "We were told at 5.15am on Sunday that she had left the hospital and then at 10.30am we had the knock on the door to say her body had been found in a field, but we didn't ask what field in the moment. She was found just half an hour away from the hospital.

"They confirmed she had been found but it was only when we saw it in the ECHO did we know where she was found and thanks to that we were able to go down and pay our respects. We left some flowers."

Davinia said following her daughter's death people have been in touch to say how much of a caring person her daughter was. She added: "She's found peace now and I think that's the most important. She touched a lot of people's lives and there was a network of people who knew her. We just hope she has found peace."

Davinia confirmed the family are waiting on a post mortem examination and an inquest is expected to take place. A Merseyside Police spokesperson said at the time: "We can confirm officers were called to a field near Stoney Lane/Hemmingsway in Rainhill this morning, Sunday October 20, following the sad discovery of the body of a woman."

"Officers were contacted by a member of the public at just after 8.35am. At this time the death is being treated as unexplained but there are not currently believed to be any suspicious circumstances. Enquiries are ongoing to formally identify the woman and inform her next of kin."
