Zoe Ball quits BBC Radio 2 show after six years to 'focus on family'
by Jessica Sansome · Manchester Evening NewsZoe Ball has announced she's quitting her BBC Radio 2 show after six years. She announced her plans to step down during her usual stint on the airwaves from 6.30am on Tuesday (November 19).
She said: "After six incredible years on the Radio 2 Breakfast Show, it’s time for me to step away from the very early mornings and focus on family."
Back in September Zoe returned to The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show after more than a month away. At the time, she had returned just four days earlier from a previous lengthy absence.
Speaking on August 12, Scott Mills, who stepped in to host her show, addressed Zoe's absence as he told listeners: "If you've just put us on this morning, it's Scott Mills in for Zoe for the next few weeks. I'm sending you all my love Zo' as are the team."
It came as the BBC presenter faced a heartbreaking year, with the loss of her mum and needing emergency dental treatment. Back in April, Zoe took time off work as she emotionally announced the death of her mum, Julia Peckham. The late mother died from advanced pancreatic cancer aged 75.
