Frequent short breaks are proven to reduce stress and boost wellbeing, according to a behaviour specialist.
Simbarashe Shamu, behaviour specialist and practising registrant of the UK Society of Behaviour Analysis, said people opt shorter breaks are often better for wellbeing compared to longer holidays.
He said: “Research shows that taking shorter, more regular breaks can boost our cognitive performance and improve our mood, allowing us to return to our daily lives with refreshed mental clarity and motivation. They also seamlessly fit into busy schedules, allows for ongoing mental recuperation and helps prevent the ‘post-holiday blues’ or the sense of overwhelm that can follow a long break.
