Stephen Mulhern was dramatically taken to hospital after suddenly collapsing in Pizza Express, shocking onlookers. The beloved TV star had been dining alone in the Sunningdale establishment in Berkshire, when he had what is believed to have been a reaction to an anaesthetic from a earlier operation that day.

Concerned Pizza Express staff called an ambulance for the 'You Bet!' presenter at about 8pm on Wednesday, November 27.

Painfully, this scare comes as Mulhern is also dealing with the recent loss of his father. A source disclosed to The Sun: "Stephen has been going through an incredibly tough time of late. He is grieving the loss of his dad to whom he was so, so close. He's also been battling several well-documented health problems, and on Wednesday morning had a procedure requiring a local anaesthetic."

"He took himself off for a quiet, solo dinner that evening, had a few drinks and just reacted incredibly badly. He's only human, and his dad's death has hit him hard."

"Stephen immediately felt unwell and concerned staff came over, and called 999. Paramedics checked him over and took him to hospital as a precaution. He was also put on the phone to his mum to reassure her that he was OK."

After the passing of his dear father last month, Stephen withdrew from commitments with Butlin's holiday parks. It is believed that he is receiving support from his team, including his friend and You Bet! co-host Holly Willoughby.

The popular TV personality, once the youngest member of the Magic Circle, credits his magic skills to his father, who introduced him to tricks while working on his market stall.
