BBC Strictly Come Dancing's Katya Jones says what 'no one ever expected' after Wynne Evans tears

Katya Jones has shared a fresh emotional update as she shared a moment 'no one ever expected' from her latest Strictly Come Dancing stint.

The professional dancer suffered heartbreak over the weekend as she and her celebrity dance partner Wynne Evans became the eighth couple to leave the BBC One dance contest as the entire show headed to Blackpool for one weekend only.

Their routine in the famous Tower Ballroom saw the opera singer finish their Charleston routine by swinging his dance partner by her feet. Anton Du Beke praised Wynne's dance to Georges Bizet’s Carmen Suite No 1: 5. Les Toreadors for his enthusiasm and commitment but told him he looked "exhausted towards the end of the dance".

But it wasn't enough as the pair found themselves in the dreaded dance-off for a second week in a row, after being forced to bounce back from being saved from an earlier exit during the previous weekend during which the duo faced Shayne Ward and Nancy Xu in the bottom two.

This time, as they found themselves under the dreaded red lights, they went up against Montell Douglas and Johannes Radebe during theresults show on Sunday night (November 17, the second time the pairing his found themselves in the dance-off during the 2024 series, before they were unanimously saved by the judges.

And Wynne was overcome with emotion when fellow Strictly contestant Jamie Borthwick surprised him with a tribute during his departure chat on Strictly spin-off It Takes Two on Monday (November 18), saying: "I’ve got a friend for life".

He became tearful when he was surprised during the episode by the EastEnders actor, who is competing in the show alongside professional partner Michelle Tsiakkas. "I just want to say that it’s just been the best nine weeks, and who’d have thought that this man and me would become best mates – it’s the duo no one knew they needed," Jamie said.

"It’s just been absolutely brilliant. It’s not going to be the same, but I’ve got a friend for life. He’s amazing, this man, and so is she. He could not have been with anyone else, he had to be with Katya."

Katya added as Wynne struggled to hold back his tears: "This is what Strictly is about, no one is going to remember the scores or the comments we got. It’s the friendships that are being created on this show, and genuine relationships…It’s absolutely beautiful to see."

She then went on to Instagram to shared a picture of Wynne and Jamie to her Instagram Story sharing a tight embrace. Alongsdie the post she wrote: "The most beautiful thing to come out of this. Friendships no one ever expected to flourish," before adding a red love heart.
