Ground-breaking 90s classic hailed 'perfect' is now on Netflix

Netflix has added the beloved blockbuster to its library and fans of sci-fi movies are in for a treat

Netflix has just dropped one of the most iconic summer blockbusters of all time into its collection of classic 90s films, and sci-fi enthusiasts are set for a real treat.

Released in 1993, the film was based on a novel by Michael Crichton and boasts a stellar cast including Kaos star Jeff Goldblum and Richard Attenborough.

Even before Crichton's book hit the shelves, four studios were battling for the film rights, and it ultimately became a worldwide sensation.

Revolutionary CGI technology was employed at the time, earning widespread critical praise, particularly for its groundbreaking special effects.

The film is Jurassic Park, which smashed box office records and raked in over $914 million (£677 million) globally, claiming the title of highest-grossing film ever until Titanic arrived in 1997.

Since hitting cinemas, numerous film critics have hailed it as one of the finest summer blockbusters in history, with its pioneering CGI marking a watershed moment that influenced visual effects methods in contemporary filmmaking.

The success sparked a sprawling multimedia franchise encompassing six sequels, video games, theme park rides, comic books and beyond.

In 2018, it earned a spot in the United States National Film Registry for being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant". Over the years, devotees have flocked to IMDb to voice their admiration for the film, with NightmareOnElmStreetFan gushing: "Jurassic Park is one of the best classic science fiction action adventure movies, one of my personal number one favorite adventure dinosaur films of all time.

"It is Steven Spielberg's ultimate thrill ride. It has great visual effects, breathtaking story, it has heart and soul it defines my childhood."

LeyX4Love dubbed it an "all-time great", noting: "This movie was so great. It's one of my mom's favorite movies. Love the characters, Graphics, I love everything about 90s movies. Must watch before seeing the new ones. I watch this movie three or four times a year."

Eternalsea revealed: "Jurassic Park is simply my favourite movie ever. It has everything action, suspense, thrills and even a little romance thrown in for good measure. I first saw the movie at the age of 6 and was a big dinosaur fan so it obviously was very appealing but even then I could feel there was so much more to this movie than the great visual effects and mighty dinosaurs."

Elephantfest proclaimed it "one of the best dinosaur or adventure movies of all time", whilst Mrman69420 branded it "perfect", enthusing: "100% one of the best movies of all time. The cast, acting, action and mostly visuals are spectacular! Most of the sequels are also amazing!"

Richarduck4077 summed up: "Jurassic Park is one those movies you can keep watching over and over again and never get sick of. The CGI holds up amazingly and it will give you a new interest in dinosaurs. Even though the movie is not scientifically accurate, it's a must-watch to anyone who loves movies."
