Strictly Come Dancing professional Michelle Tsiakkas has called out EastEnders star Jamie Borthwick for allegedly "lying" about his romantic life.

The 29-year-old pro and the soap actor had an exclusive chat with Daily Star at the Pride of Britain Awards earlier this week.

When questioned if his role on the popular BBC show had attracted a lot of female attention, Jamie denied it. However, Michelle quickly interjected, stating: "He's lying..." Jamie then clarified: "No, honestly not really, I can't believe it either, I get some messages but I don't really read them. Being on EastEnders hasn't really helped or hindered it [his love life] to be fair. I'm usually too busy playing snooker. "

The conversation then turned towards the possibility of a romance between the two. Jamie, 30, explained: "When you're with someone eight hours a day you just naturally build a rapport and you just learn about each other. They tried to do the romance thing with us but I very firmly put it to bed. She is like my sister, it would be very weird."

Michelle chimed in: "We do have amazing chemistry but he's like my brother. Chemistry is something you have or you don't. You either find it really easy to talk and be around someone or you don't. I'm very straight with him, he's straight with me."

The duo have spilled the beans on their post-Strictly plans, revealing a group trip to Disneyland Paris is in the works. Michelle said: "We have planned a trip to Disneyland Paris actually, there is a big group of us. "When pressed about his EastEnders role as Jay Brown, he remained secretive about future plots but shared his hopes: "I'd like for him to live happily ever after - but nothing is ever that simple."

In a significant shake-up at EastEnders, Chris Clenshaw, the executive producer, will be stepping down in February 2025 following the show's 40th-anniversary celebrations.

Jamie expressed his feelings about the departure, saying: "I'm very upset about Chris leaving, he has been fantastic for me personally and the show. But execs chop and change all the time, but we are very sad to see him go, but we are welcoming a new exec in. So I'm excited to see what they bring."
