by Jamie Roberts · The MirrorAs Ruth Langsford heads Down Under for her I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here stint, she admitted to the "bizarre" moment on her flight.
The former This Morning host, 64, is heading into the jungle for a role on the hit ITV show's spin-off series, Unpacked. And after being snapped in the airport on her way to Australia, she has been documenting her trip on social media.
Posting on her Instagram Stories, she shared three suitcases and captioned the image: "Australia here I come!! Never could travel light!!! @imacelebrity." Sharing she had landed in Dubai, she quickly said "goodbye grey skies" as she enjoyed a glass of fizz. Smiling, she then said her adventure was about to begin before sharing she will appear on Unpacked on Friday.
She went on to share a magazine article about her saying she was on her way to the jungle. She laughed as she captioned the image: "Reading about myself on the plane … bizarre! Can’t believe I’ll be within touching distance of @janepmoore!!"
Ruth is taking her spot on the Unpacked couch, following on from the likes of Colson Smith from Coronation Street. She will dish the dirt on the camp to the ITV2 show's presenters, Joel Dommett, Sam Thompson and Kemi Rodgers.
Ruth heads Down Under after delivering a subtle dig towards ex Eamonn Holmes earlier this week. The TV star announced the end of her marriage to her former co-star Eamonn, 64, in May. The duo had been an item for over two decades and share son Jack Holmes, 22. The Daily Mail reported she appeared to take the dig at her ex, who is now dating Katie Alexander, in a recent social media post. She exclaimed she was "happy" in the wake of the split.
The publication reports that Ruth shared a photo of her lunch, which consisted of tomatoes, avocados, and olives, on her Instagram Stories on Sunday. The image, however, also included a mug that had "happy" emblazoned on the front. The post, set to the song Brunch Time by Hello EMC, was captioned: "Yum."
Her decision to head Down Under was due to it being "a tough year" a source claimed. Speaking to The Sun, an insider said that Ruth's decision to appear on the I'm A Celeb spin-off show was her way of moving on from her painful year. They said: "It’s been a tough year for Ruth and she’s been putting her best foot forward, she’s thrilled to have been asked to appear on this the spin off show and fly to Australia ahead of Christmas."
They added that Ruth's inclusion has "excited" the showed producers. "The production team are particularly excited they have landed Ruth to join them as they think she’ll be amazing and give the new format a boost," the source added.
