Brad Pitt is said to be "relieved" after finalising his divorce from Angelina Jolie.

The once almighty Hollywood couple officially finalised proceedings on Monday when the Tomb Raider actress filed her paperwork. Angelina's lawyer, James Simon said in a statement: "More than eight years ago, Angelina filed for divorce from Mr Pitt. She and the children left all of the properties they had shared with Mr Pitt, and since that time she has focused on finding peace and healing for their family.

"This is just one part of a long ongoing process that started eight years ago. Frankly, Angelina is exhausted, but she is relieved this one part is over." The actress, said to be worth around $120 million decided to forgo spousal and family support from her now ex-husband. Meanwhile, Brad's lawyers are yet to speak out.

But sources now claim that "relieved" Brad had one motive when it came to finalising his and Angelina's divorce. It appears that he and his girlfriend, jewellery designer, Ines de Ramon, are hoping to one day tie the knot together and also start a family. The actor, 60, and Ines, 34, went public with their relationship at the Venice Film Festival in September this year, alongside pals George and Amal Clooney.

Speaking to MailOnline, a source said: "They are looking to get married in the next year and Brad has settled because he wants to keep his children on side for his new marriage to go ahead. Apparently Ines is keen to have children too and pressured him to get it all sorted out as soon as possible."

Reports claim that the couple started dating around two years ago before they later decided to move in with one another. The source continued: "Brad will be relieved that he can finally move on and marry again. He has wanted his divorce settled long before now but he believes Angelina has been dragging her feet."

But they claim that while Angelina has been "fighting for the best deal for their family," the finalised divorce now gives Brad the opportunity to say "I do" again. Now that the divorce is finalised, it's said that Brad wants to build bridges with his children after their relationship became strained throughout the eight year ordeal.

Angelina, 49, and Brad were once dubbed "Brangelina" and had the whole of Hollywood at their hands before welcoming six children together after tying the knot in France in 2014. However, two years later, she filed for divorce citing "irreconcilable differences." The news came after the couple and their children took a private flight from Europe, with Angelina claiming he was abusive towards her and their children.

Pitt has always denied the allegations and an investigation by authorities cleared him of the allegations. In 2019, she was officially declared single by a judge but when it came to settling their assets and custody of their six children, they faced several hurdles. A private judge hired by Pitt reached a decision soon after that, which included equal custody of their children, but Jolie filed to have him removed from the case over an unreported conflict of interest. But the appeal was upheld and Brad's judge was removed from the case.
