The proposal itself happened during a holiday in Kenya among friends. The couple were staying at a secluded lodge by Lake Rutundu when he decided to pop the question. While the princess admitted that the proposal was a "total shock", William revealed they had discussed tying the knot previously, having dated for roughly eight years. The pair exchanged vows about six months later in the grand setting of Westminster Abbey in April 2011.
