Sophie Turner was deeply moved while filming a new crime series following her split from Joe Jonas.

The Game of Thrones star, 28, had finalised the divorce with the 35-year-old singer on September 11 as per reports and dived straight into her role in ITV's Joan.

Taking on the persona of Joan 'The Godmother' Hannington at a press conference for the show's launch, Sophie shared: "I'm a Pisces, I'm emotional. And I'm a mother, so anything to do with children and it just flows out."

She expressed how easy it was to tear up for the lens due to this aspect of her life, adding: "I think sometimes when you are doing a show like this and there's diamonds and glamour, you get swept away by it all."

At the heart of the show is the wrenching tale of a mother striving for stability to win back her daughter, pointing out, "You have to remember that this is to provide a solid and stable life for her daughter so she can get her back. And it's really a heartbreaking story."

Post-divorce complications included a custody tussle over their two kids, Willa, four, and two-year-old Delphine. Now, Sophie has embraced fresh beginnings with Peregrine Pearson, an aristocrat aged 29, even making their relationship ' Instagram official'. The six-episode narrative of 'Joan' follows her character's ascendancy from an everyday mum to a revered figure in London's criminal underworld during the '80s.

The tale also follows Joan's harrowing flee from her abusive husband, a journey that sees her making the difficult choice to place her daughter in care while she rebuilds her life. With no money and nowhere to live, she manages to secure a job in a jeweller's, from where she steals her first diamonds.

Sophie noted of the role: "She is so funny but she has gone through so much trauma and is so ambitious. There really is so much to her mother, lover, liar, thief. It's just remarkable that it's all a true story."

She previously revealed she had great chemistry on set with Harry Potter star Frank Dillane, who plays the role of her partner in crime. She said: “We became really close actually during this. It was imperative that we had a good relationship and I think I kind of artistically fell in love with Frank a little bit, because the way he works is so fascinating. I really found myself kind of relying on him for a lot of it, the kind of emotional stuff.”

Earlier this week, Sophie revealed she is in a new relationship with British aristocrat Peregrine Pearson.
