by Katie Palmer · The MirrorFrom season three premieres in the UK on Sky on January 14 and the American actor Harold Perrineau plays Sheriff Boyd Stevens. The 61-year-old star was born in Brooklyn.
His parents actually changed his surname to Williams as a child, but he later changed it back after he found out there was another Harold Williams in the Screen Actors Guild. One of his first roles was in Fame and he went on to star in Claws and The Rookie.
As for his personal life, he has been married to former actress and model Brittany Robinson since 2002. They have three daughters together, including actress Aurora Perrineau.
The star opened up about From season three and how one scene in particular forced him to confront a life-long phobia. He admitted it haunted him for months after filming.
He told Comic Book Resources: "There's a thing that's coming up in one of the episodes, and it literally is a phobia I've had all my life. When we shot the scene, I couldn't look at it before, I shot the scene and then couldn't look at it anymore."
He continued: "It still stayed in my brain for months. Every time it was time to go to sleep, it would pop up.
"And I hated it, I really did, because it's my phobia, right? But there was no escaping it until it just went away... But without giving anything away, it gets worse."
The actor went on to detail one of the episodes which he would never watch again as he teased the new season is going to be "heartbreaking".
He told Buzzfeed: "One of the really good reasons that we're going to do it for 10 weeks is — from the beginning — it's going to be heartbreaking, and you're going to need a week to recover from a couple of episodes.
"It's dark, man. This year is dark. There's one episode I'm never watching again in my life. I'm never watching.
"I'm not going to tell you which one, though...I told you, I'm going to play coy [laughs]."
