As Ant McPartlin returns to our screens for another series of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!, the Mirror takes a look at what his ex-wife Lisa Armstrong has been up to following her recent heartbreak
by Nia Dalton · The MirrorLisa Armstrong went through so much during her devastating split from Ant McPartlin - but now, "she is back", pals say.
The Strictly Come Dancing make-up artist, 48, is looking forward as she moves on with her life, while Ant juggles parenthood as a first-time dad. The I'm A Celeb host, 48, announced the birth of his son, Wilder, with his wife Anne-Marie earlier this year, marking a brand new chapter.
As for Lisa, she is apparently turning over a new leaf, according to sources close to her. The make-up artist, whose 11-year marriage to Ant ended in 2018, now lives in a new £5million house, close to the five-bedroom mansion they once shared. But what else is she up to?
TV appearance
Just as Ant headed Down Under for I'm A Celebrity, Lisa made a triumphant return to our screens, on Strictly Come Dancing's spin off show It Takes Two, last Saturday. Former Strictly pro Janette Manrara announced: "She's been on Strictly for 17 years and tonight make-up designer Lisa Armstrong is here to chat all things ballroom beauty."
Pals of Lisa said it was no concidence that she made a return to the spotlight just as Ant prepares to head off. A friend told Mail Online: "Lisa is free of the past. She has been through so much heartache, but look how happy she looked on that [It Takes Two] sofa. It was like the weight of the world had been lifted off of her shoulders."
Another source told the paper: "When Lisa goes to work she is Work Lisa. Out of respect nobody mentions Ant and Anne-Marie. She doesn't want to be the famous divorcee so she avoids the limelight at all costs."
A friend also said: "She went through so much, she spent so many years trying to save Ant from himself and then found herself single and childless. Now, though, there is no more wallowing. Now she is back." But will she be watching him on TV? "No chance," the pal said.
Selling up and fresh start
Earlier this year, Lisa put her former marital home on the market. The property listing reads as follows: "A very rare opportunity to purchase a substantial double-fronted family home offering approximately 4700 sq. ft of accommodation and located on a sought-after residential road within the Grove Park area of Chiswick.
"This exclusive property is presented in excellent condition in parts although, some work is required in order to put it back to its original state." Addressing Lisa's plans to sell up, a source told The Sun: "Lisa has long since moved on, but this is one of the last connections she has from her marriage to Ant."
Lisa had rented out the stunning west London property until September last year, when a devastating blaze ripped through it. Keen to avoid any further hassle, she was keen to sell up - for approximately £4million - and concentrate on perfecting her new home, which reportedly has a swimming pool and a gym.
Dealing with rumours
Back in 2020, it was reported that Lisa received more than half of ex-husband Ant's £50million fortune in their divorce settlement. At the time, Lisa took to Twitter to blast the rumour as 'nonsense'. It was claimed Ant told pals he was 'thrilled' to have settled his divorce with Lisa and vowed to focus on moving on with Anne-Marie.
It was also alleged the presenter would not give Lisa any money from future earnings and she would own the couple's marital home in London - which she is now selling. The exes reportedly share permanent custody of their chocolate Labrador, Hurley, who Lisa often posts about on her social media.
Boyfriend heartbreak
In August 2023, Lisa nursed another broken heart when she split from her boyfriend of three years, Sky electrician James Green. The break-up was said to have come 'out of the blue'. Lisa and James started dating in 2020 when dad-of-two James was estranged from his wife.
A source told the Daily Mail: "I don't really know what has gone wrong. The two of them were only on a swanky holiday together in the Caribbean or somewhere about eight weeks ago. He was with her one day, and he just wasn't with her the next day. There was no inkling that anything was wrong."
In October, the same publication reported Lisa had threatened to take James to court after she supposedly loaned him £100,000 cash during their time together. A source said: "Lisa feels she has no choice but to go down the legal route." They continued: "Following their split, she's ramped up her demands but fears James will never pay up."
Two months later, Lisa took to her Instagram account with fury to clarify 'lies'. She said: "Just for your records I have NEVER threatened to take anyone to court, and for your second record did not receive £31million."
Hollywood dreams
At the end of last year, it was reported Lisa has plans to move to the USA and start a new career in Hollywood, to put her recent relationship breakdown and divorce behind her. The make-up artist is said to want to escape past troubles and heartaches for a new life in sunny California with her actor friend Craig Young.
A source told Closer magazine in November that Lisa had been through a "really rough time" recently had "been in a dark place". They said: "She's been planning a trip out to LA to see her pal Craig Young. She loves it every time she goes there and really needs that boost right now.
"And it could lead to something more permanent - she's debated moving there before, and now with her recent split she's seriously considering it." The source said Lisa's dramatic split from her ex James reminded her of the hell she went through when Ant dumped her.
'Olive branch' to Ant
Most recently, Lisa reportedly extended an 'olive branch' to Ant, six years after their split. A source told OK!: "Lisa knows Ant is ready to move on with the next chapter of his life - she doesn't want to be angry anymore. She's done a lot of healing over the past few years and spent so much time being upset and angry about everything.
"It has been exhausting but she has done a lot of work on herself. It seems everyone is having a fresh start with the end of the show and Ant's new chapter in his life, so Lisa wants to make sure she's in a good place."
Lisa also showed Ant some support ahead of his and Dec's final Saturday Night Takeaway show. She liked a post that named Ant and Dec as "simply the best" when talking about their showbiz careers. A source hinted to OK! that the social media like may be a signal that Lisa is willing to show her support once again.
They said: "Lisa feels she played an important part in their success - she was there from the very start when Ant and Dec first had the idea. Seeing the show come to an end brought back lots of happy memories. It also made her realise that she and Ant were really happy and she now doesn't want her marriage to him tarnished. Lisa loved him so much and now she just wants everyone to be happy, Ant included."
