A huge fire has broken out at a funfair in South Shields - this is a breaking story

A massive fire has broken out at a popular seaside amusement park, with emergency services swarming the scene.

The incident is unfolding at the popular Ocean Beach Pleasure Park Funfair on Sea Road in South Shields.

Online videos show flames and a huge plume of smoke coming through the roof of the building. The Mirror has contacted Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service and Northumbria Police for more information.

Dating back to 1899, Ocean Beach Pleasure Park is located on the seafront in South Shields. The amusement park says it has more than 40 rides, attractions and arcades for both children and adults. It has a solid 4.3 out of 5 rating on Google and 3.8 out of 5 on Tripadvisor, where it is ranked the eighth best thing to do in South Shields.
