Popular UK attraction offers free babysitting for certain families
One popular date-night attraction is offering free childcare so parents can enjoy a stress-free evening out
by Isobel Pankhurst · The MirrorA popular UK attraction has announced that it will be launching a new initiative to pay for babysitting while parents enjoy an evening of gin and chocolate.
York’s Chocolate Story - a five-star tourist attraction in the heart of York city centre - is well known for its immersive chocolate experiences, telling the stories of the city’s chocolate founding families including Terrys and Rowntrees, and now it'll also be the perfect place for parents to go for a child-free night evening out.
A recent study by the Marriage Foundation found that regular dates make a relationship between four and six per cent more likely to last, and also increase happiness.
And that’s where York’s Chocolate Story comes in. The popular tourist attraction will be holding a weekly event in which couples can take part in a gin chocolate-making demonstration, hands-on chocolate crafting, expert tuition on the perfect pairings, and obviously a premium gin tasting.
For these Friday night events, the venue will be paying for one lucky couple to enjoy this romantic experience and have their childcare costs covered for the evening.
Stuart Wood, general manager of York’s Chocolate Story, said: "We understand how difficult it can be for parents to carve time out for themselves, especially for a special night out without the kids. That’s why we want to do something special to mark the launch of our Chocolate & Gin Tours.
"Babysitting is an expense many families can’t afford to shoulder – so we’re taking that worry away and replacing it with a night of extravagance. We can’t wait to welcome our guests to spend the evening with us, our premium gins and signature sweet treats."
York’s Chocolate Story tells the story of the city's chocolate boom, and is named among TripAdvisor’s top five attractions in York, ahead of popular attractions including Jorvik Viking Centre, Castle Howard and York Maze.
