Horrific details of Paul Doyle's dashcam footage laid bare as cop says it's 'worst I've ever seen'
Harrowing dashcam footage from Paul Doyle's Liverpool Parade attack shocked even seasoned officers, who've described it as 'the most distressing and graphic footage'
At approximately 6pm, Doyle's Ford Galaxy mounted the pavement, hurtled through the crowds for a distance of around 50 metres, injuring 134 people, including children. During sentencing, Doyle cried as the harrowing dashcam footage showing the crash was shown to the court.(Image:PA)
The former Marine, who dramatically changed his plea to guilty on the second day of his trial, also put his head down and closed his eyes as the footage showed his vehicle hitting crowds of football fans. Victims present in the courtroom were also in tears as the clip was played. On Monday (December 15), ahead of the video being shown, prosecutor Paul Greaney KC warned those in Liverpool Crown Court: "What we are about to display on the screens is truly shocking."(Image:Police Handout)
One particularly devastating moment shows Doyle shouting "f****** hell, move" as he struck a 10-year-old girl. The prosecutor said of how the girl's father had tried to move his daughter out of harm's way, but she was hit. He remarked that she was "extremely fortunate to suffer only relatively minor physical injuries". Mr Greaney told the court: "The defendant carried on regardless down Water Street. Many police officers were in the area. If he had truly needed help, as opposed to simply being out of control … all Paul Doyle needed to do was stop. But, instead of stopping, the defendant drove on, striking more and more people, causing more and more injury."(Image:Police Handout)
