Paul Kim's son dead: Influencer's five-year-old child dies after contracting severe case of flu

The five-year-old son of influencer Paul Kim has died, the star has revealed in a devastating social media upload

An influencer's five-year-old son has died after contracting a severe case of the flu. Paul Kim's son Micah died on New Year's Eve it was confirmed on the star's Instagram.

The devastating video saw the social media star say it "continues to be" the hardest thing he has ever been through.

Taking to his platform, he told his followers his son had been "fighting" for "11 long hard days" before losing his life. "We are so proud of him," Paul said. "I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart as his dad, on behalf of my family, for all the ways you guys prayed and lifted us up during this time."

He added: "This incredibly difficult, impossible time for our family. It's been the hardest thing I've ever been through in my life and it continues to be."

Despite wanting privacy, Paul admitted he felt obliged to let his followers know of the family's tragedy.

He said: "As much as this time I just want to have privacy and have time to mourn with my family I felt like I owed all of you an update, just out of gratitude.

"Micah is already in Heaven at work, seriously, so many testimonies, so many ways in which God is using the light in my five-year-old to truly save souls and change the world."

And he said he couldn't be a prouder father. "Our hearts are broken," he went on. "But we trust in the Lord. Please pray for my family and me as we learn how to live by faith and not by sight."

The family had initially thought their son had had a "miracle" recovery on Christmas Day. However, their hope was crushed. On a GoFundMe page that had been set up to help cover costs of the youngster's hospital stay, an update seemed to share good news on December 25.

"We had good news today that Micah's heart keeps improving and getting better!!!," the organiser wrote. "This is huge!

"Please keep praying for his brain swelling to go down and for his complete healing in Jesus' name, through the intercession of Fulton Sheen. God bless you all, hug your loved ones today."

Sadly, less than a week later, Paul had to share the horrible news that his son had died. Followers quickly paid tribute following his announcement. One user wrote: "There are no words. I am so sorry.

"Your faith during this most unbearable of trials has been an inspiration to even more people than you know."

Another added: "Our hearts are with you. We are so deeply sorry for your loss and are lifting you and your family up in prayer. Your faith has been such an inspiration, and we trust that the Lord is holding Micah close in His loving mercy."

And a third said: "Paul and Maggie, our hearts are broken for you guys. Praying for you and your family. Little Micah, pray for us all to run the race well."
