Nicola Roberts pregnant with first child as Girls Aloud star makes sweet announcement

Nicola Roberts has announced that she's pregnant with her first child, eight months after confirming her engagement to footballer Mitch Hahn

Nicola Roberts has announced she's pregnant. The Girls Aloud star, 39, has kept her personal life relatively private in recent years but last year, confirmed her engagement to footballer player Mitch Hahn.

Now, the Runcorn-born songstress has confirmed that she's expecting her first child with the Team GB star, 36. The Sticks + Stones singer took to social media to reveal the news as she made the exciting announcement. She said: "Mitch and I have had the most magical Christmas Day sharing the most precious news with our families. We’ve been keeping a secret. We are five months pregnant! We can’t wait to meet our little one in the spring."

Celebrity pals instantly rushed to the comment section to celebrate with Nicola, who shot to fame alongside Cheryl Tweedy , Nadine Coyle Kimbereley Walsh, and the late Sarah Harding in 2002.

Former Love Island host Laura Whitmore said: "Congrats to you both! The best news!" whilst fellow singer Jessie Ware said: "Amazing babe! Congrats!"

Alexandra Mardell, best known for having starred in Coronation Street, said: "Ahhhh congrats so gorj" and This Morning's Ashley James said: "Mega news!! Congratulations."

Her bandmates are all mums, with Cheryl, 41, sharing son Bear, eight, with the late Liam Payne, Nadine having daughter Anaíya, 11, with former Dallas Cowboys ace Jason Bell, and Kimberley having sons Bobby, Cole and Nate with former singer, Justin Scott.

Nicola and Mitch confirmed their relationship in June 2022, going public while attending Elton John's British Summertime performance at Hyde Park. During their date night, the couple put on a loved-up display with The Masked Singer star appearing smitten.

Last year, she appeared to confirm their engagement as she took to the stage at Brighton Pride for Girls Aloud's final performance, while wearing an engagement ring. It's believed that Mitch had gotten down on one knee during a holiday in the South of France.

At the time, a source told The Sun : "Nicola has met her soulmate in Mitch. She couldn't be happier." While Nicola has made a name for herself in one of Britain's most successful girl groups, Mitch is also no stranger to success.

Although he's now the CEO of the accountancy firm, Nordens, his professional sporting career saw him play for Southend United and Grays Athletic. He also captained Britain to gold during the Maccabi European games in 2019.

It's believed that the songstress who has also written music for other artists has been keen to ensure her bandmates play a part in her special day. "She wants all the Girls Aloud girls as bridesmaids," a source previously said.

Nicola has also ensured that her late bandmate, Sarah Harding, will be included in her special day. The source added that she is "going to do a special tribute to Sarah during the wedding. Nicola knows what she wants."

Sarah tragically died aged 39 on September 5, 2021 after putting up a courageous fight following a breast cancer diagnosis. Despite the band once having a fractured relationship following their split in 2013, they came together to support the Stockport legend.

And last year, they reunited to celebrate their 20th anniversary as a band after being given a demand from Sarah. The chart-mauling group performed 30 concerts to raise funds for The Sarah Harding Breast Cancer Appeal – of which the band members are patrons of.
