Strictly Come Dancing fans have been left fuming over a “horrific” decision during the iconic Blackpool extravaganza.

The annual trip to the iconic North West seaside hotspot, which has long been regarded as the home of ballroom dancing, took place on Saturday night, with viewers tuning in to watch the remaining celebs take to the dancefloor to battle for a place in next week’s show. Every year, couples pull out all the stops for their Blackpool performance, and Saturday was no different, with Pete Wicks rocking the pink latex for his routine to I’m Too Sexy by Right Said Fred.

However, some fans took to social media to complain about one element of the lavish show that fell flat, with one even dubbing the musical choices - and the live band - as “cr*p”. Writing on Facebook, one fumed: “The band tonight are not doing any of these dancers any favours!” as another agreed: “The band are good, it's the song choices that are cr*p.”

Meanwhile, plenty of Strictly fans jumped to the band’s defence, with one firing back: “It's not the band's fault that the music is bad. They don't choose it,” while another commented: “I think Dave Arch and the singers are absolutely wonderful.” A third chimed in: “You can't blame the band, they are fantastic, it's the poor choice of song that is the problem,” as another agreed: “They did a great job with some horrific song choices.”

“I think it's been spot on...great show tonight,” one commented, as another said they believed the music “was better” at Blackpool. The divide between the fans continued as some began to complain about Sarah Hadland and Vito Coppola, who they claimed failed to make use of the world-famous Blackpool Tower Ballroom dancefloor, which is sprung and can be tricky to master.

“Just my opinion but Sarah hardly did any dancing!!” one wrote about their Couples' Choice routine which scored the couple a whopping 39 points.”Yes and not great use of Blackpool dance floor,” another agreed. One furious viewer added: “They went all the way to Blackpool with that great sprung floor and then danced on a table!”

“I was waiting for it to get going on the floor. I liked what they did, but thought it went on for too long- they could have used that beautiful dance floor,” another chimed in. The 53-year-old comedy star, who is best known for her role in Miranda, explained the powerful reason behind her routine, which was set to Kylie Minogue’s hit Padam Padam. “I would say to any woman out there if you think you can’t do something you can always push yourself. You set your own limits because I’ve discovered something,” she stated.
