The sort-of announced and not-really-in-early-access Deadlock has received a major update in the form of City Never Sleeps. Valve has updated just about every facet of the game, from the lanes in the New York City map and events above and below ground to HUD elements along with adding six new heroes.

On September 29, 2026, Valve updated Deadlock with the City Never Sleeps content drop. The page dedicated to the major update covers everything that’s been added, starting with a rundown of the changes to the New York City map.

For starters, each lane has been updated with new visuals and new Haunts. These lean hard into each lane’s personality, with the Haunts based on objects you might find there – like a jar of pickles, books, trash bags, and barrels. The back alleys have been overhauled as well, acting as unique districts in each quadrant.

The map will also see a new merchant called the Broker. This moving salesman offers upgrades and other goodies, but as with any deal with the devil, they come at a price. Though you’ll get neat buffs, there are debuffs you need to weigh.

The City Never Sleeps update also adds six new heroes for players to try. There’s Nurse Harrow, Rat King, Solomon, Deadman Danny, Baba, and Violet. Valve has given each one a few keywords to describe their attributes. Nurse Harrow is “strict, terrifying, savior,” while Solomon is “strategist, focused, checkmate.” Players will be able to vote on the release order of said heroes, with two heroes releasing on Tuesdays and Fridays.

There are a lot of visual improvements coming to Deadlock as well. There are new healthbars, ally indicators, and stat markers. The Event Feed has been cleaned up, making it easier to see who did what, to who, and with what. The shop has been overhauled as well, making it easier to craft your build.
