Frontier Developments has announced Planet Zoo 2. The sequel to the much beloved wildlife management sim aims to be a vast and ambitious improvement, providing players with the opportunity to look after aquatic and flying life for the first time. Frontier Developments also dropped a release date for later this year.

The developers officially announced Planet Zoo 2 with a reveal trailer this week. The game will come to PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S on October 13, 2026. You can see the whole thing in action.

Planet Zoo 2 is getting more than a facelift, although it certainly is a looker. For the first time, we’re also finally getting aquariums and aviaries. That means building habitats for birds, fish, and other saltwater and freshwater life. Frontier Developments teases a robust progression, too, where it seems we’ll be able to release grown animals into nature reserves.

Planet Zoo 2 looks beautiful and ambitious out of the gate, but there’s still much more to learn, especially about how its new features will work. Stay tuned to the Planet Zoo topic for more updates and details as they drop.
