by TJ Denzer · ShacknewsSaber Interactive wants to get Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival right. It’s a big deal to be working with a legendary horror franchise and the team wants to do right in adapting it into their upcoming action-horror game. That’s why, according to Associate Director Vid Rajin, Clive Barker and even Pinhead’s actor, Doug Bradley, have been highly involved in approval and advice for the game.
Video Editor Greg Burke asked directly about how involved Barker was in Hellraiser: Revival in our Shacknews E4 2026 coverage. Rajin was happy to share that Barker had been helping from the beginning.
“Clive was mostly involved in the ideation phase,” Rajin told us. “Of course we really wanted to have his approval of the story, so we crafted it alongside him. He gave us a lot of feedback just to nail that Hellraiser feedback and vibe. Afterwards, he was involved as more of an advisory role. We would, from time to time, give him builds of the game and he would approve it or give his opinion on it.”
When it comes to a legendary series like Clive Barker’s Hellraiser, there’s a painstaking number of details that designers have to get right. Though liberties can be taken, loyal fans obsess over the minutiae of their favorite horror and Clive Barker’s franchise has an army of loyal fans. To that end, when Greg asked if there was any feedback Barker had given that surprised them, they stated that long-time Pinhead actor Doug Bradley was pickier about the way the character was portrayed.
“He has been [Pinhead] for so long, in the first movie in ’87,” Rajin explained. “He gave us a lot of tidbits and also his own interpretation of the character… We took his feedback into consideration when crafting his voice lines.”
With two authorities ensuring the authenticity of the experience, Hellraiser: Revival is shaping up to be a riveting experience. For more on the game, check out Contributing Editor Lexi Luddy’s preview.
