Naughty Dog is ‘not done with The Last of Us,’ says Neil Druckmann
Druckmann says there are a couple projects related to The Last of Us in the works.
by Donovan Erskine · ShacknewsNaughty Dog’s next game will be Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophecy, but the studio is also developing other unannounced projects. This includes games set in the world of The Last of Us, as studio head Neil Druckmann revealed in a recent interview with the Washington Post.
“It’s important for us to note that as the creator of the games, Naughty Dog is still the steward of this IP and even though this might be the end of this adaptation, we’re not done with ‘The Last of Us,’” he said when talking about the upcoming third season of the HBO show, which Naughty Dog has no creative involvement in. “There’s a couple projects in the works that, when the time is right, I’m very excited to talk about.”
This is the closest thing to an announcement of a new The Last of Us game since the multiplayer spin-off was canceled in 2023. There’s no word on if these new projects will include The Last of Us Part 3, a spin-off game, or something else.
The fate of The Last of Us seemed up in the air last year when Neil Druckmann said not to bet on there being a third game in the series.
Naughty Dog was absent from the latest PlayStation State of Play, but the studio’s next game, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, is currently in development for PS5. The studio announced earlier this week that the game had finished its cinematic shoot.
