Inspired by the Rebbe’s words in Hayom Yom regarding the unique power of this day, and following a remarkable story of friends who witnessed an open miracle after donating to Shifra & Puah—now is your time to partner in this legacy of kindness. Inside: Watch the moving video and download a free Lag B’Omer children’s book.

It began with a story told on stage—and ended with a miracle of stunning precision.

At the Shifra & Puah dinner in 5784, Avi Ben Shlomo shared a deeply personal journey. After years of waiting for a child, Avi and his wife made a heartfelt decision to sponsor care for a new mother through Shifra & Puah, donating $770—the exact amount for “Adopting a Mother.”

As part of the campaign, Avi entered the donor raffle and won a silver cup embedded with a coin from the Rebbe. But what followed was far more significant than any prize. Exactly nine months later, their son was born—a moment Avi described as an absolute miracle.

The story resonated deeply. But for one attendee, it became an immediate call to action.

A Momentary Decision
Miri, a Crown Heights resident, was in the audience. As she listened to the story, her thoughts flew to her dear friend Chani (pseudonym).
The two women had once been pregnant at the same time. While Miri celebrated her son’s birth, Chani tragically suffered a stillbirth just a month later. Time passed, but Chani was still waiting for her blessing.

That night, Miri decided to act. She gathered her close circle of friends—affectionately known as “The Brazilians”—and together they pooled their resources to reach the $770 goal. They chose to “Adopt a Mother” through the wonderful Shifra & Puah organization, directing their intentions solely toward Chani’s miracle.

“Let the Blessing Be Hers”
A few days later, the group was notified that they had won the grand raffle: a unique leather-bound Siddur embedded with a piece of fabric from Rebbetzin Chaya Mushka.
When the Siddur arrived at Miri’s home, it was a profound moment. In a new video released by Shifra & Puah, she recalls holding the Siddur and speaking from her heart.

“I said to the Rebbe: ‘Rebbe, we gave the $770 to Adopt a Mother through the wonderful Shifra & Puah organization. Please, give Chani a blessing. Even if the Siddur belongs to all of us, let the blessing be hers.'”
Miri then called Chani and told her simply: “The Siddur is here—but the Rebbe’s blessing is yours.”

Together, they wrote a request for a blessing from the Rebbe through the Igrot Kodesh. The answer they received spoke explicitly of “Joy” and “Gladness of Heart.” They felt a quiet certainty that their prayers had been heard.

The Miracle Repeats
What happened next was nothing short of incredible.
Exactly nine months later, mirroring Avi Ben Shlomo’s story with startling timing, Chani gave birth to a healthy baby boy.
The parallel was unmistakable—a powerful reminder of a core truth: when one cares for G-d’s children, G-d cares for theirs.
