Mrs. Rosa Kleinman, wife of renowned Chassidic artist R’ Zalman Kleinman obm, passed away on Shabbos, 22 Iyar, 5786.
She was 90.
Rosa was born in Tomashow-Lubelsk, Poland, in 5696, to her parents Arye Leib and Kayza Neuhause. She was born to a rabbinic family, and was a direct descendant of the Bach and other great Rabbonim.
She survived the war in Russia, and was saved by Agudas Yisroel, who helped her escape to Beis Rivka in France. She met and married R’ Zalman Kleinman in Paris.
The couple moved to New York and lived in Crown Heights, where they had an open home to many guests. She was a steadfast supporter of her husband, specifically his work as an artist. Reb Zalman became one of the most respected Chassidic artists of his generation. His paintings, known for their vivid colors and emotional depictions of Chassidic life, reflected the resilience and spirit of Jews who endured the hardships of Communist Russia.
Rosa was a very giving person, always looking to help people, and was very perceptive.
She had been living in Coral Springs for the last few years.
She is survived by her children, Aryeh Leib Kleinman (Migdal Ha’emek, Israel), Rivkah Denburg (Coral Springs, Florida), Kayza Zajac (Crown Heights), and Chana Friedman (Coral Springs, Florida).
She was predeceased by her husband on 18 Av, 1995.
The Levaya will take place on Monday, passing 770 at 10:30 am, on the way to Old Montefiore Cemetery.
Shiva will be at 1534 President St. in Crown Heights. Rivky Denburg and Chanie Friedman will be sitting shiva in Crown Heights at the same place until Tuesday evening, and will be in Coral Springs at 9404 NW 38th St, 33065 from Wednesday afternoon.
