Kids Produce Short Film on the Weekly Parsha

How what once started as Hilly Majesky of Ghana, Africa's hobby quickly turned into a full on weekly production.

About 18 months ago, Hilly Majesky was thinking of creative ways to utilize a talent he’s perfected over the years – to script, film & edit short videos.

Living on Shlichus in Ghana, hours away from any Jewish school or Chabad families, Hilly at a young age was forced to learn the ins and outs of technology. His participation in online school meant he spent countless hours on the screen. It was then when he discovered this talent he was blessed with.

Like every talent we are given he thought to himself, “How can I use this for holiness and potentially bring people closer to Judaism?” Later, while brainstorming with his older brother Yanky about different ways they can improve their outreach and impact Shlichus, the idea jumped out at him: “Why don’t we create a video on this week’s Parsha for our community?!” Although a bold idea, they quickly got to work.

First step was opening up a Likkutei Sichos to Parshas Teruma to find a Sichah to base their skit on. Next, they worked to create a storyline. After some time filming and editing, their first video was complete. They were content with their work, but after receiving such positive feedback, they knew this can’t just be a one-time thing. It was at that moment the “Weekly Sichah” was born.

Since then, each week immediately after publishing, the search is on for the following week’s Sichah. The Sichah is learnt & adapted. The storyline is then crafted, & soon after, filming begins. All the raw footage is then meticulously edited for the final product. Once completed, it is posted on many platforms, including their website, WhatsApp Channel, & Zoom Channel where hundreds of adults & children alike watch and enjoy.
