Parsha Studio: Mabul Suncatcher
COLlive.com presents a weekly series from the creative minds at the Jewish Children's Museum in Crown Heights. Parsha Studio will explore the Parsha through crafting, painting, science experiments, and culinary art. This week: Mabul Suncatcher for Parshas Noach.
by COLlive Editor · COLliveHi Boys and Girls! Welcome back to the Parsha Studio!
“When Hashem says to Noach, ‘Come into the Teivah,’ Hashem is also saying: Enter into the words of Tefilah and Torah study; there you will find a sanctuary of wisdom, meaning, and holiness amidst the raging floodwaters of life” – Baal Shem Tov. Today, when there is no real Mabul, we have trials and tribulations. What will protect us from these waters is entering into the words of Davening, Learning the Torah, and doing Mitzvos. When we enter this Teivah, Hashem will truly come and protect us!
Come and join us for a crafting session where we will guide you in creating a stunning suncatcher that portrays the story of Noach’sTeivah and the Mabul. This suncatcher will serve as a meaningful reminder of the trials and tribulations of the past as well as the challenges of the present. We will be using a simple faux-stained glass technique that produces beautiful results, especially when the sunlight streams through the window. You’ll have the opportunity to get creative by marbling the glue to resemble the tumultuous waters of the Mabul. We can’t wait to see the beautiful suncatchers you’ll create!
