Gefilte Fish to Families Who Recite Whole Tehillim on Rosh Hashana
As a gesture of encouragement and strengthening for the families of Crown Heights, a community activist, in collaboration with COLlive, will offer every family commits (bli neder) to completing the entire Book of Tehillim at least once over the course of the holiday, a package of gefilte fish made from carp and salmon.
by COLlive Editor · COLliveOn Rosh Hashanah, there is a special custom to make a big effort to recite Tehillim and refrain from unnecessary chatter.
Additionally, the tradition is to eat the head of a fish, and as during many Yomim Tovim, in many Chabad homes, the festive holiday table will be graced by traditional gefilte fish.
As a gesture of encouragement and strengthening for the families of Crown Heights, a community activist, in collaboration with COLlive, will offer every family commits (bli neder) to completing the entire Book of Tehillim at least once over the course of the holiday, a package of gefilte fish made from carp and salmon.
The fish is prepared using a special Austrian recipe passed down from generation to generation, this recipe even survived the horrors of the Holocaust.
One package per family. A family may recite the Tehillim collectively together.
