New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani made a visit to Crown Heights on Monday afternoon, appearing at the Jewish Children’s Museum under a tightly controlled schedule that was not open to the press.

The mayor’s public itinerary for the day listed only a 1:00 PM visit to “a Children’s Museum,” noting explicitly that the event would be closed to media coverage.

Ahead of the visit, security details were observed throughout the neighborhood, particularly in the vicinity of Eastern Parkway and Kingston Avenue, where the museum is located.

Mamdani was seen entering the museum and was welcomed by co-founder and longtime community activist Devorah Halberstam, who also serves as a liaison with the NYPD.

He was accompanied by New York Police Department Commissioner Jessica Tisch and City Council Member Crystal Hudson.

The group proceeded upstairs to tour exhibit floors focused on Jewish life, traditions, and practice. No official statements were released yet about the visit.

This is Mayor Mamdani’s second known visit to Crown Heights since being elected. Back in January 2026, he quickly arrived for a late night visit after a car ramming attack on Chabad-Lubavitch headquarters – 770 Eastern Parkway.
