After more than three decades of serving the community, Fashion Queen, a longtime clothing boutique selling stylish, fashionable and modest clothing in Crown Heights, has announced that it will be closing its doors.
“We are saying farewell with gratitude and joy for a beautiful journey,” Esther Chein, the founder of Fashion Queen, told COLlive.
The store, which began in a humble basement over 35 years ago, grew into a beloved local staple located at 331 Kingston Avenue between Union and President Streets, offering generations of women high-quality, modest clothing for special occasions.
“With a passion for quality fashion, I saw a chance to create a business that brought value to our community through high-quality, tznius clothing,” Chein says. “I wanted to make that accessible to other women, to give them a sense of identity and confidence through their clothing choices.”
Throughout its years of operation, Fashion Queen was more than just a store to local women and the many visitors to the community, as a place where women could find elegant and modest options in a warm, welcoming space.
The boutique also served Shluchos and their communities, helping them experience what a tznius-focused store could offer. The store pioneered on-site alterations to ensure perfect fits while maintaining modesty, creating an environment where every customer felt seen and cared for.
“Living up to its name, Fashion Queen strove to make every customer feel like royalty, prioritizing patience, care, and personalized attention,” Chein proudly notes.
As the store closes, customers are being offered one last opportunity to purchase their favorite items at discounted prices, she says.
“I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to the Crown Heights community for their unwavering support over 35 years,” Chein said. “I cherish the memories, relationships, and trust built with customers. It’s been an honor to dress and empower women with modesty and style. Thank you for being part of our Fashion Queen family.”
