Year 8 talmidim of London Mechina recently enjoyed an uplifting and activity-packed Shabbaton in Solihull hosted by Rabbi Yehuda and Dinie Pink of Chabad of Solihull together with their menahel Rabbi Moshe Zavdi and a devoted group of bochurim counselors from Yeshiva Gedola London.

The visit is part of an ongoing tradition that has developed over the past several years with different grades of the Mechina spending special Shabbosim in Solihull throughout the year. The weekends provide the talmidim with an opportunity to experience an inspiring atmosphere of Torah Chassidus and achdus outside the classroom.

Rabbi Moshe Zavdi and the Mechina staff are widely admired for the personal attention and genuine care they invest in every talmid and that warmth was evident throughout the entire Shabbaton. The bochurim felt deeply connected and involved in every aspect of the program.

Rabbi Pink, who is part of the hanholla gashmi of the Mechina, helped coordinate the weekend together with Rabbi Avrohom Yitzchok Pink, Operations Coordinator for Chabad of Solihull.

The program began Thursday evening with a lively bonfire and BBQ accompanied by an exciting fire-juggling performance that set the tone for an energetic and memorable weekend.

Friday included Shacharis learning seder and an indoor rock-climbing trip followed by mivtzoim in the surrounding area. A meaningful highlight for many of the boys was the opportunity to use the newly built men’s mikveh established by Chabad of Solihull especially meaningful as bochurim from the Mechina had assisted with the construction of the mikveh during a previous visit last year.

As Shabbos arrived the atmosphere became especially uplifting with spirited Kabbolas Shabbos heartfelt singing an engaging shiur and lively seudos filled with divrei Torah and farbrengens.

On Shabbos the talmidim led the davening and leining for the local Chabad of Solihull minyan. The afternoon and evening included activities seder niggunim Havdalah a screening of Living Torah and a spirited pizza Melave Malka.

Throughout the entire weekend the boys enjoyed lavish and delicious meals catered by Rebbetzin Dinie Pink and Rabbi Avrohom Yitzchok Pink whose hospitality and dedication contributed greatly to the warm atmosphere.

The Shabbaton concluded Sunday morning with Shacharis and a bagels-and-lox breakfast before the talmidim returned to London inspired by a memorable weekend of growth friendship and Chassidishekeit.
