by COLlive Editor · COLliveTu B’Shvat is often associated with fruit, trees, and the quiet shift of seasons. But beneath its simple customs lies a rich layer of meaning that speaks directly to how we experience Torah and our relationship with Hashem. Why is the “birthday of the trees” marked as a holiday on the Jewish calendar? And why is it celebrated specifically under a full moon?
This Tu B’Shvat, the Batsheva Learning Center is inviting women to explore these questions through a new learning booklet, Savoring the Sweetness of Torah, a text-based journey into the symbolism of growth, nourishment, and spiritual pleasure.
Savoring the Sweetness of Torah guides learners through carefully curated sources that develop these themes step by step. The booklet includes original Hebrew texts with clear English translations, making it accessible for both seasoned learners and those newer to text-based study. It’s designed for thoughtful personal learning, as well as for group settings where discussion and shared exploration bring the ideas to life.
For Shluchos and educators, the booklet is part of a complete Tu B’Shvat teaching package. Alongside the printed learning booklet, Batsheva Learning Center offers a companion podcast that walks through the sources and ideas, providing framing and insight for preparation or follow-up. A customizable flyer template is also included, making it easy to create a polished, inviting learning event with minimal prep time.
At its core, the Tu B’Shvat booklet reflects Batsheva Learning Center’s broader mission: helping women not only learn Torah, but learn how to learn. To engage deeply with sources, ask meaningful questions, and discover the pleasure that comes from genuine understanding.
