The Crown Heights Beis Din’s Vaad HaKashrus released an important kashrus advisory on Wednesday, 29 Adar 5786 (March 18, 2026), providing guidance to the community regarding meat and poultry products for Pesach.
According to the notice, all fresh meat and poultry products that are non-processed, non-cooked, and non-cured, and that bear CHK certification, are kosher for Passover year-round. The Vaad clarified that no special Passover certification or additional labeling is required for these products, as they contain no chametz and are produced under full-time kosher supervision.
However, the advisory stresses that all processed, cooked, or cured meats, including cold cuts, must bear a clear “Kosher for Passover” designation on each individual package in order to be used on Pesach.
The Vaad also published a list of approved brands for raw meat only, emphasizing that the approval applies exclusively to non-processed products. The approved brands are: CH Meat, David Elliot, Heartland Kosher, Generation 7, 770 Glatt, Shmullys Fine Cuts, and Southern Kosher Meat.
Consumers are reminded that in retail settings, CHK certification applies only to products that physically display the CHK label, and shoppers should verify this before purchasing.
Concluding the advisory, the Vaad HaKashrus extended warm wishes to the community for a kosher and joyous Pesach. Quoting the spirit of the Rebbe’s teachings, the letter expressed the hope that the physical preparations for the Seder should lead to a deeper spiritual liberation, breaking through all personal limitations, and that we merit the ultimate Geulah immediately.
