DAP Stampin urges immediate repair of hazardous potholes on ART route
by Kentigern Minggu · Borneo Post OnlineKUCHING (Dec 23): The Democratic Action Party (DAP) Stampin branch has called on contractors for the Autonomous Rapid Transit (ART) project to urgently address dangerous potholes along the road connecting the Arena Sukan sports complex towards Vivacity Shopping Mall.
Sim Kiat Leng, special assistant to Stampin MP Chong Chieng Jen, highlighted the issue after receiving public complaints.
He warned that the deteriorating road conditions pose a significant threat to safety.
“Given previous incidents where multiple vehicles suffered punctures, failing to act promptly could lead to more serious accidents,” Sim said.
He identified the three specific hazards: one large pothole directly in the middle of the road near the Arena Sukan entrance, and two more further ahead at the junction before turning into Lorong Wan Alwi 1.
While advising motorists to exercise extra caution in the area, Sim also encouraged the public to report similar road hazards to ensure timely repairs.
“Road safety is not a minor issue. Any negligence can lead to serious consequences. Relevant parties must take swift and responsible action to protect public safety,” he stressed.
