Abang Johari pays tribute to late Madeline Berma
by Samuel Aubrey · Borneo Post OnlineKUCHING (Dec 30): Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has expressed his deepest condolences to the family of the late Datuk Prof Dr Madeline Berma, describing her passing as a significant loss to Sarawak.
“Sarawak has lost one of its finest daughters who has contributed her expertise to ensure a sound economic future for Sarawak,” he said in a statement.
Madeline, a distinguished economist, passed away this morning at her residence in Bandar Baru Bangi, Selangor.
She was also a member of the Sarawak Economic Action Council (SEAC), which is chaired by Abang Johari.
Abang Johari said that the SEAC, formed in 2020, plays a key role in guiding Sarawak’s post-Covid-19 economic strategy towards 2030, as outlined in the Post Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS 2030).
“(My) deepest condolences to the family of the late Datuk Professor Dr Madeline Berma on her untimely demise today,” he concluded.
