Immigration Dept nabs 32 foreigners during raids on Miri entertainment, reflexology centres

MIRI (Nov 29): A team from the Kuching Immigration Enforcement Division, in collaboration with security and law enforcement agencies, detained 32 foreigners during an operation here.
Dubbed ‘Ops Gegar’, the raids began late on Wednesday night and ended yesterday evening.
Acting on intelligence, the operation targeted entertainment and reflexology centres in the city centre and Permyjaya with 68 individuals screened in total.
“The raids resulted in detention of a total of 32 foreigners consisting of four men and 28 women.
“Most of the offenses committed were not having a valid travel document, overstaying, and not having a valid passport to stay in Malaysia,” the Immigration Department said in a Facebook post.
All the cases are being investigated under Section 6(1)(c) and Section 15(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63.
