PFM Bintulu facilitates book donations to correctional centre

BINTULU (Nov 7): The Prison Fellowship Malaysia (PFM) Bintulu Chapter has coordinated the collection of 3,500 books from supermarkets, churches, and individual donors to support the Bintulu Correctional Centre’s initiative of setting up a mini library for inmates.

Additionally, five bookshelves were each donated by a businessman and the Methodist Church to help organise and display the donated books.

The donated books cover topics such as religious texts, business and
management guides, agricultural books, music education, and cookbooks.

Present at the handover ceremony were PFM Bintulu chapter chairman Martin Sia and vice chairman Chiew Gi Fu.

The donation was received by the correctional centre’s deputy director Hasbullah Berahim.

“We are grateful to the many donors who have contributed to this cause, as well as to the businessman who generously donated the bookshelves.

“This is a testament to the power of community collaboration, and we believe that these books will serve as a valuable tool for the inmates’ personal growth and development,” said Sia.

He said PFM remains committed to supporting the correctional centre in its rehabilitation efforts and fostering positive changes within the prison community.
