Brace Yourselves: A 'Love Island' Movie (Yes, Really) May Be in the Works
· Cosmopolitan- Love Island might be leaving the villa and heading to a movie theater near you.
- The dating reality TV show is being considered for a potential film treatment after the show's season 6 and 7 success in the United States.
- The show's broadcasting company is looking to expand “the possibilities of what [Love Island's] brand is.”
Good news, Love Island fans: Your favorite dating reality TV show juuust might be getting an upgrade from the small screen to the big screen—except with actors and actresses playing your most beloved (and hated) cast members from the show.
In a truly bizarre update, David George, CEO of ITV America—AKA the company that produces the show in the United States for Peacock—revealed that he has ideas for fully utilizing the Love Island brand, which includes potentially figuring out a way to translate the show into a movie.

“Why are we not taking Love Island and figuring out how we’re going to translate that into the movie world?” he told Deadline. “There may be something going there. I can’t even begin to tell you what it is, but there are those types of conversations. We are open to expanding the possibilities of what that brand is.”
And it might not just stop at a potential movie, either—George also told Deadline that “Love Island acts a lot more like a sport than it does a television show,” and “has a tremendous amount of value.” He added, “We should be thinking about everything through the lens of how do we create something that creates peripheral value for us as a company. The economics of production are getting tighter and tighter. So, if you’re not trying to figure out how to make peripheral money, it’s going to be really difficult for you to continue in content.”

While that sounds like a TON of business talk, it means that more Love Island content may be on the way soon. The movie, however, would be pretty unprecedented—Deadline pointed out that only The Real World pivoted to the movie format with 2002's The Real World Movie: The Lost Season, an MTV-produced made-for-television movie.
So, um...TBD, I guess? Just hoping for the hottest people ever to play Nicolandria, simply for personal reasons.
