Which Tinashe ‘Popstar’ Song Are You, According to Your Zodiac Sign?

Tinashe’s new album Popstar is one of the weirdest pop albums in a decade—and I mean that as a compliment. Dropped September 25, Popstar is Tinashe's eighth studio album, and it's instrumentally strange in the best possible way with techno sounds colliding with contemporary pop. That's exactly how you capture ears right now, because that collision is what the mainstream sounds like.

It's also brutally timely. Everybody wants to be famous at the moment—TikTok fame, influencer-in-your-own-community fame—but are you really going to build your entire life on that? Popstar sits with the disappointment nobody wants to talk about: standing in a stadium and it's empty. What if you don't sell out? What if the ends don't meet? And then there's the other thread running through it—relationships that function more like entertainment than anything that actually feeds her mind. It's a reflecting album for a reflecting moment. And it's no accident she dropped it in pre-shadow Venus Retrograde, with Venus in Scorpio dragging every glamorous Hollywood fantasy under a microscope: the parts that are supposed to be fabulous, until reality kicks in—and that's exactly when a person makes art.

I couldn't map all 16 tracks to 12 signs because there's natural overlap, so I picked one song per zodiac. But this album is so astrologically on-the-nose it practically assigned itself. Read on to see which Popstar track matches your sign.

Aries

"Twentyfive Eight"

Pure get-up-and-live Aries energy: "Where do the minutes all go / When you only got one life, one life?" But there's a mature edge to this one. Tinashe is reflecting on how chasing stardom won't necessarily get you where you're trying to be—yes, life requires action, but forcing it is not the vibe. Even the ram has to learn the difference between moving and grinding yourself into nowhere: "Climbing the ladder to nowhere."

Taurus

"Popstar"

When you stop and actually study it, Tauruses have popstar energy. Being naturally Venusian attracts attention without even trying. But the title track asks the real question: at what cost? Being the center of attention leaves even the most Venusian people wondering if they really want this—or want to be with someone who does: "Don't fall in love with a popstar… Is it everything you thought it would be?" The spotlight looks good on Taurus. Whether she wants to live in it is another story.

Gemini

“Cloud 9"

This is what goes through Gemini's head when they catch a case of the crush. Lighthearted, modern pop, pure love ballad—the song that finally puts words to starting to take an interest in someone: "Cloud nine, getting starry-eyed / I can't believe it, I never felt this way before." Gemini falls fast and talks faster, and for once the feelings outrun the commentary.

Cancer

“Pillow Fight"

I'll be honest—I was scared to give Cancer "Pillow Fight," because the astrology world will not stop handing this sign the innocence edit, and this pick could read like rage bait. But then I watched the video. Tinashe drags a literal bed into the frame and spends most of it there—dancing on it, owning it, closing the whole thing out in lingerie on a floating bed. That is so Cancer-coded I can't ignore it: the crab's whole world is the home, the nest, the bedroom. And the song itself refuses the innocence narrative anyway: "Don't ever let a pretty face fool ya / Because I was never innocent." Yes, Cancer goes outside. But she runs the house—and the bed—like nobody else.

Leo:

"Nobody Wants To Dance Anymore"

This most Leo song on the record, for obvious reasons. Why go to the dance floor if nobody's dancing on it? Leo's standing at the edge of the room clocking who's watching, who's actually there, and quietly reserving strong opinions about the entire scene: "Got their hands in their pockets or their phone out." If the party's going to be dead, Leo's not performing for it—she'd rather just dance, on her own terms.

Virgo

“I'd Rather Be Alone"

Everyone thinks Virgo is self-sacrificing, and then something clicks. When they finally hold their self-respect, nobody brings them down—these beautiful hermits will always choose themselves in the long run: "You give me a little, but never enough." Maybe they come back, maybe they won't. Let's just wait and see.

Libra

“Too Easy"

This carefully designed hottie. Cardinal effort in every detail, so the beauty looks like it just happened. It didn't. The song's whole thesis is making the impossible look effortless, and the air-sign sass seals it: "I, I feel like a celebrity / If you're mad, then go to therapy."

Scorpio

“Sunglasses"

The hot girl on a roll who doesn't need to explain herself. The track's a little weird, which is exactly right, because Scorpio behind closed doors is a whole different universe than the face she shows the group chat. Independent shorty energy, confidence reserved for the strong and self-assured. “Eyes straight forward, I see tunnel vision / Speaker so loud, music my religion (A-la-a-la-la, a-la-a-la-la)” The sunglasses aren't hiding anything; they're a boundary.

Sagittarius

“Crash Out"

It doesn't take much for Sag to reach her limit. Kind, generous, game for anything, right up until she's over pretending or waiting. Then it's spectacular: "I don't wanna be humble / I don't wanna be sweet no more / I don't wanna be a good girl." The archer doesn't do fake nice—she'd rather burn it down than sit through one more minute of something insulting her intelligence.

Capricorn

"Empty Stadium"

Nobody understands the long game like Capricorn. The pressure, the uncertainty, the years of work before anyone claps: "Last night I saw a dream so vivid that I woke up sick." But giving up isn't in her vocabulary—only the slow climb and continued effort. "And I'm standing on the stage just waiting for applause" isn't despair, it's a promise. She'll still be standing there when the seats fill in.

Aquarius

“Brainrot"

Love isn't the priority for Aquarius placements right now, and that's on purpose. They're extracting the wisdom from everything that came before: what worked, what needs improvement, what they actually need for love to work. They can sense when the people showing up are just here for entertainment—”I'm nothing but numb / So sick of fake love." If they're going to open up to someone new, it can't feel like brainrot.

Pisces

“Melatonin"

Everyone still files Pisces under dreamy-floaty, but look around: Pisces are making moves right now. Working mad hard, stacking wins, moving faster than the stereotype can keep up—and the doubters are so boring they're basically a lullaby: "Sleepin', sleepin', sleepin' on me, bitch, you so melatonin." If they've been running this hard, maybe they do need a nap. Either way—love to see Pisces succeed.
