Anne Hathaway’s Glossy Burgundy Manicure Proves It’s the Chicest Nail Shade to Try This Autumn

Darker mornings, pumpkin-spiced lattes, and tartan coats are all pretty clear signs that autumn is approaching. But according to Anne Hathaway, there's another, arguably chicer, way to tell the seasons are changing. And that's your nails.

While out in New York for Verity movie press, Anne was spotted sporting a glossy burgundy manicure that has me convinced I need to overhaul my entire aesthetic in favour of something a little (read: a lot) moodier.

Created by celebrity nail tech Mo Qin, the rich, wine-red hue is giving autumn without whipping out the pumpkin motifs—because there's a fine line between autumnal and looking like a Starbucks advertising board.

As shown, the shade is deep, glossy, and vampy—and paired with the actor's short, neat nails, it feels polished (literally) and grown-up, while still having enough colour to make a statement. Qin used Essie’s Gel Polish in shade Model Clicks, a deep-red, creamy shade. After two coats, she sealed the look with Gel by Essie’s Shiny Top Coat to give the nails a glossy finish.
