Where and When to Stream ‘Digger’

How can I watch Digger now?

· Cosmopolitan

Before it was officially released in theaters, there was a shroud of mystery surrounding Digger, the latest film from director Alejandro G. Iñárritu that stars Tom Cruise as an oil tycoon. What is it about? Is Digger a secret musical? Is it just vibes? What is Cruise up to, like, ever? To answer those questions and watch Digger ASAP, or stream it as soon as that’s possible, here’s what you need to know.

The rest of the cast is not too shabby, including Riz Ahmed, Sandra Hüller, John Goodman, Jesse Plemons, Michael Stuhlbarg, Burn Gorman, and Emma D’Arcy. It is a climate change satire written by Iñárritu himself along with Sabina Berman and playwright Jez Butterworth. You technically can look up the plot now, but it’s better if you don’t!

Digger was released in theaters on October 2, 2026 in standard and premium formats like IMAX and Dolby. Although, you’re really going to want to watch it in VistaVision if you can try to snag a ticket in that format! Get to it!

Some of the more recent releases on HBO Max at the time of Digger’s theatrical release include Backrooms, Mother Mary, and The Drama. The most recent is Evil Dead Burn, which was released in theaters in July. Counting backwards and then forwards, that means Digger will likely drop on HBO Max in January at the earliest. Just in time for Oscar season!

What to watch before Digger drops:

I mean, the massive tribute to Tom Cruise that was anchored to the first teaser trailer makes me think that Digger wants you to watch other Cruise movies. My top recommendations/suggestions are Interview with the Vampire, Edge of Tomorrow, A Few Good Men, Minority Report, Valkyrie, and Tropic Thunder. Don’t just rewatch Jerry Maguire and the Mission: Impossible movies for the umpteenth time! Some of those picks are actually included in the digital 8-film Cruise bundle that Fandango is offering for Digger ticket buyers.

You could also familiarize yourself with other Iñárritu films. If you haven’t seen Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) and The Revenant, for example, the time is now.
